We’re on a mission to make baseball a game for everyone.
Let’s Play Too is a non-profit dedicated to empowering girls to play baseball. We envision a future where girls take the field with confidence, excel in the sport, and inspire fans at every level. To get there, we’re creating more opportunities for girls to develop their skills, connect with the baseball community, and thrive in the game. Because it’s long past time for girls to be an included part of America’s pastime.
Our game plan to win:
Expand access by providing more opportunities for girls to build fundamental baseball and athletic skills.
Build community by supporting girls and parents in forming their own baseball networks.
Elevate the conversation by challenging outdated perceptions about girls in baseball.
Strengthen connections by partnering with baseball organizations at every level—from local leagues to professional teams.
Meet our founder
Rachel Gansner is a lifelong lover of baseball, a passion sparked growing up in Chicago. From a young age, she was glued to the screen watching Cubs games, often with a mitt in hand and a dream in her heart. Her parents instilled in her a powerful message early on: girls can do anything boys can do. That mindset fueled her drive in sports and beyond.
As a kid she played softball through high school and always had a passion for athletics and in particular girls in sports. She managed the football team in college and participated in intramural sports after college including being on an all-women's baseball team.
When Rachel became a parent, it felt natural to pass her love of the game on to her two kids. She began teaching them the fundamentals of baseball in their backyard, which quickly grew into something bigger. Before long, she was coaching both of their teams and volunteering across many teams as part of the Warren Park Youth Little League baseball organization, becoming a familiar and trusted figure on the diamond.
While the joy of the game was ever present, so was something else: A glaring gender gap. Rachel began to ask herself, “Where are all the girls? Why aren’t they out here playing baseball? Named in tribute to her baseball hero Ernie Banks and his famous words, “It’s a great day for a ball game; let’s play two!”, this organization channels Rachel’s lifelong passion into a national mission: to invite and empower girls to step up to the plate. Let’s Play Too creates inclusive spaces, challenges old narratives, and builds a future where every girl who loves baseball knows there’s a place for her on the field (and everywhere else she wants to be).
Rachel lives in Chicago with her husband and two kids, where baseball –playing, coaching and watching–remains a family tradition and is a vehicle for change.
